The key components of a typical marketing automation solution are:

  • A list of campaigns – where to send your email, when to send it, what content to send with it, etc.
  • An algorithm that calculates the optimal time for sending each campaign to maximize results.
  • A software interface that interprets the algorithm and automatically sends emails and other communications needed to complete the tasks specified in the algorithm.

The basic elements of any marketing automation strategy are at least 3 things:

Marketing automation examples

  1. a series of events or sequences that can occur in an automated campaign (e.g., email, SMS, mobile app download)
  2. pre-defined goals and metrics (e.g., number of new users added on day one, number of people converted into customers on day one).
  3. The goal is often to track the progress against the goal(s), and make adjustments accordingly (e.g., the campaign could be adjusted if the conversion rate does not meet a certain threshold). Typically, you need a system that allows you to input various data with it (especially when scaling up), as well as an interface that is easy for you as a human being to use so you can keep track of everything going on in your future automated campaigns.

How to implement marketing automation?

Automation is an effective marketing tool that can increase your email signups and click-throughs. Here’s how you can implement marketing automation on your website:

  • The first step is to install a form on your website. You can do this by just copying and pasting an existing form from another site or by writing your own.
  • Select the form (and any other changes you want to make).
  • Go to Settings, then choose "Automation". This will bring up a menu with options for setting up email alerts, sending emails, or setting up a campaign that will send emails based on certain criteria (i.e., people who have completed a certain task on your website).
  • Choose the Automation tab and set up all of the required inputs such as the email address of your customers, their job title, what they have done in their profile, etc., and once they complete certain tasks they will receive an email reminding them to do so again later.
